Thank you to everyone who showed up and your patience! That was our largest tasting we have ever done, what a blast. Next month we will be looking at moving the tasting into the Sun Porch room so we can accommodate more people and Scott can pour more wine and move around.
We did get to try some fabulous wines and Scott as usual did an incredible job of presenting them. Here is the list of what we tasted:
White wines
New Age Bianchi / Summerhill Chill
Cono Sur Sustainable Chardonnay
A to Z Pinot Gris
Errazuriz Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc
Red wines
Rocco dei Mori ONLY Rosso
Protocolo Tinto
Paso a Paso
Martin Ray Stags Leap Cabernet Sauvignon
Anyone who ordered wine or didn’t get to pick up their favorite on Friday we are fully stocked again so please stop in and we will take care of you.
Next wine tasting is July 18th 4-6 in the Sun Porch!
Cheers
Jeff

Wow, what a fun night!
We just finished up my second time doing Chef in the House and had a great time. The theme this time was “Grilling with the Gang”. We did everything out on the gazebo at Summerhill Farm and got a beautiful night to do it. Thanks to my friends and family for filling out the gang portion and even helping out a with the cooking whenever I needed extra hands.
Here is the menu we enjoyed:
Minnesota ceviche with fresh crappie from my buddy Bob
Cedar planked salmon with red chili teriyaki sauce
Baby red potatoes with fresh herbs
Grilled vegetables
Drunken pineapple and bananas with ice cream
Full recipe details will be posted at http://www.arvig.com/video/locallinc/chefinthehouse.html
Thanks Duane and Randy!

Well, after our usual crazy April, which was made even crazier by all that snow, we opened on May 9. April is fun because that’s when our new merchandise starts coming in. It’s like Christmas every day as we open the boxes and remember all those orders, some dating all the way back to the previous October. There were lots of oohs and aahs in the warehouse, and coming from our staff who has seen it all, I take that as a sign that we have some great new goodies.
Some of our new clothing lines include Jag jeans, Paradiso resort wear, Sun Moda resort wear, Nickky tops, Nic and Zoe fashion wear, Baggaline bags and lots more! We paid special attention to finding some really good looking plus size clothing whenever we could - in lines like David Brooks, Produce, and Alex Evening. They’re mixed in with the other clothing, so be sure to ask for help if you’re looking for something in particular in your sizes.
We have tons of new lines in home, garden and gift items. Some favorites are Mario Batelli’s high quality cookware in great colors, a new line of spicy foods called Scorned Women (that gives you a clue to just how spicy) and some fabulous heart shaped massage tools that are so easy you can give them to a child and get a GREAT back massage (I’m putting my sons to work on that).
I’ll post some photos next time to share some of our great looking displays.
Eileen

Last week I had the pleasure of cooking for ACS LocalLinc’s Chef in the House. It was a lot of fun and the crew of Duane, Randy, and Lee were very patient and great to work with. If you would like to see the menu and get the receipes they are available at http://www.arvig.com/video/locallinc/chefinthehouse.html the show title is Easy to Prepare Gourmet Meal. Other than a brief vist from the fire department for a false alarm (you really have to put a good sear on the prime!) the show went well and the food turned out great.
Scott Lindman from The Wine Company was also nice enough to join me and talk about the great wines he brought to pair with our food. This is what we sampled during the show:
Haton Brut Champagne - our warm up to get the show going
St. Pierre Sancerre and Lang & Reed Cabernet Franc - goat cheese fondue
Alexander Valley Merlot - horseradish encrusted prime rib w/ pan au jus
Noval Tawny Port - chocolate and tiramisu parfait
They all went great with the food and made the taping go much easier! If anyone is interested in purchasing the wines we had on the show you can go to our partner online website www.artisanvineyards.com/ and find them there. Remember to enter Summerhill Farm as your retailer during checkout.
Also I would like to give a special thanks to my parents, John and Jane, for letting us take over the kitchen for most of the day!
Thanks, Jeff

Well it is getting to the time of year when I have to start researching what new wines to bring into the Sun Porch and the Summerhill Cellar! It is tough work but someone has to do it…
Last season I expanded the Summerhill Cellar with some new and fun wines. Some of the big hits were the Jacuzzi Primitivo, Dunham 3 Legged Red, and Erazere Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc. These will all be back for this season and I am meeting with Scott from the Wine Company next week to start tasting new labels for this season. One of the varietals I am going to be tasting is a petite sirah, this grape produces a big fruit forward wine with lots of the blue fruits in it and usually some nice wood and smoke. This grape usually produces a bigger wine than a cabernet sauvignon and gets it name based on the size of the grape. This is a great red meat wine that pairs well with grilled, braised, or roasted meats. I will also be exploring some new whites as well as looking for that unique red to try.
If anyone has something they are looking for or a suggestion please leave a comment and I will do my best to find something that will match. I will let everyone know what great wines we taste next week!
Thanks, Jeff

Hi All,
While I was at the apparel market Jeff put together this fun blog - how cool! Hopefully we’ll be able to give you some good information on what’s going on and hear back from you on what you wish was going on.
Market was fun as always. There’s nothing like getting to see huge quantities of beautiful new clothes and accessories and getting to buy them! The colors are fabulous this year. We’re still seeing the bright springy colors like kiwi, coral and turquoise, but we also have some great nautical navy/white combo’s as well as reds and blacks which have that cool urban punch.
We found some fun new lines to bring in - I can’t wait to get them! So far, we have a cool, updated denims line, some fabulous knit separates that look great and are sooo comfortable, and another awesome resort wear line of cotton and bamboo knit separates. I looked especially for some dressier clothes for special occasions like weddings, graduations and cruises and found some beautiful outfits and separates as well.
Jewelry is also very fun this season. We’re still seeing the organic, ethnic look with multi-metals, beads and wood, but what’s new is colorful enamel earrings and bangle bracelets, as well as more sophisticated gold and silver long necklaces that are great for layering. Lots of geometric shapes and so fun to wear.
Now, to wait for these goodies to come in….
Take care,
Eileen
